Spanish potato growers association Andalusian Early Potatoes has launched a new campaign image to promote its potato exports in key European markets.
Under the slogan ‘All in good time’, the fresh campaign will aim to highlight the seasonal aspects of Andalusia-produced early potatoes, which are only available between the months of April and June.
The promotion, which was debuted at last week’s Fruit Logistica trade fair in Berlin, Germany to coincide with the association’s tenth appearance at the exhibition, will also focus on the products’ “guarantee of freshness and taste”.
Andalusian Early Potatoes president Mariano Ruiz (pictured) told Fruitnet that the aim behind the creation of the brand was to “add value” to the product and highlight the potatoes’ “stronger taste', which is the result of climatic and growing conditions.
The 18 member companies of the association together cultivate 12,00ha of potatoes in the Spanish provinces of Cadiz, Sevilla and Cordoba, producing on average 360,000 tonnes of potatoes every year.
Mr Ruiz said approximately a third of this total is exported to major European markets, including Germany, the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands, while the group has recently begun exports to Poland and the Czech Republic.
