André Potel, who was the first president of both Interfel and Aprifel, in addition to serving as director of CTIFL, has “left his mark”, according to Interfel
French interprofessional organisation Interfel sent its deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of the late André Potel, the first president of Interfel and Aprifel, as well as a former director of the CTIFL, who died this month aged 93.
“It is with deep emotion that we pay tribute to André Potel,” Interfel stated, “who has devoted his life to structuring and promoting the fresh fruit and vegetable sector.”
In 1967, André Potel joined the CTIFL as director, according to Interfel, “laying the foundations for a commitment that would leave a lasting mark on our sector”.
In 1975, he played an important role in the creation of Interfel, following the adoption of the law on interprofessions, becoming the very first president of Interfel in 1976.
In 1981, Potel became the first president of Aprifel, helping to advance research and information on fresh fruits and vegetables.
“Over the course of his career, André Potel has also left his mark on the public sphere as Mayor of Chézy-en-Orxois and has been honoured with prestigious distinctions, including the title of Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur,” the statement from Interfel continued.“Through his commitment, he has made a major contribution to the development of the sector. His legacy continues to resonate in our actions and in our daily work in the service of fresh fruits and vegetables.”
