The new award in France aims to promote initiatives that create value and boost consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables, with the winners to be announced at Sial
French interprofessional organisation Interfel has this year launched the first edition of the Les Remarquables trophy, which aims to highlight innovations and initiatives that create value and ultimately increase the consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables.
The jury for the Les Remarquables trophy has selected the finalists to be revealed on 23 October at French exhibition Sial on the Talks stage.
After an initial assessment by a technical jury, a professional jury composed of professionals from the sector met with the 12 pre-selected candidates and delivered its final verdict.
Supported by the ministry of agriculture, agrifood and forestry, the contest was initiated through Interfel’s Innovation Club.
“Innovations from the sector (both upstream and downstream) and those from external partners recognised by professionals were able to compete in one or two of the following four categories,” Interfel revealed. These are:
- Open innovation: achievement resulting from a collaboration with a partner outside the company, or even the sector;
- Continuous improvement: achievement significantly improving the performance of the activity or sector;
- Sector transversality: achievement resulting from a collaboration between actors from several links in the sector;
- New use: achievement renewing the consumer experience.
“Through the Les Remarquables trophy, the Innovation Club aims to publicise the initiatives of the sector to promote the consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables,” Interfel stated. “The Innovation Club has set itself the goal of identifying and communicating on the trends that the sector can adopt in a logic of innovation.”
