Finnish retailer K-Citymarket has held promotions for Malaysian fruit and agro-industry products on 6-7 May, reports Bernama.
The promotions were organised by the Netherland's Malaysian Agriculture Representative Office in the Hague, with the Office’s second secretary of agriculture Mohammad Wafiuddin Esa telling the Malaysian news site that the promotions were being used as a platform to test the Finnish market and introduce newer products.
Carambola, mangosteen, mango, red dragon fruit, jackfruit, pineapple and papaya as well as coffee and coconut were sold at the K-Citymarket hypermarket chains, selling out in just two days.
'We brought about 800kg of fruits, the main items for the promotion, and allocated about 30 per cent for sampling, while the rest was put up for sale and they were sold out within two days,' Esa told Bernama. 'From the meetings we had with the hypermarket purchasing department, they are now looking seriously to launch and offer the products into their retail chains.”
Malaysian ambassador to Finland Datuk Blanche Olbery added that the success of the promotions was encouraging, and that the Malaysian Embassy in Finland was organising the ASEAN Food Fair this August, featuring Malaysian fruit and other food.
