Melanie Müller, who went by the stage name Scarlet Young in her porn days,is heading a berry campaign for one of Germany’s leading fresh produce marketers.
The 28-year-old, now a reality TV personality, will help to market a new brand of berries called 'The Mellie'.
The collaboration, which was agreed upon at Fruit Logistica 2016 in Berlin in February, is initially being used to market strawberries.
And this week, a presentation and tasting session for the Mellie brand took place at Frankfurt’s Am Main’s Scheck-in Center to mark the end of the German strawberry season.
“We are breaking the mould with our The Mellie product concept,” said Landgard’s chairman Armin Rehberg.
“Nowadays it is crucial to provide products with an emotial value and to tell a story around the product. That succeeds when you are prepared to break new ground.”
Rehberg described Müller as having as young, cheeky and having a “refreshing” personality.
She is best known for her reality TV appearances in Germany’s version of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and The Bachelor as well as her 2014 World Cup song for the German national football team.
Work is currently underway to expand the Mellie concept beyond strawberries to raspberries and blueberries, as well as chili peppers and beef tomatoes. Preparations are also being made to include strawberry and chili plants in the so-called 'Mellie family’.
With around 3,200 member companies, Landgard is one Europe’s biggest marketing organizations for flowers, plants, fruit and vegetables. It has an annual turnover of €1.8 million (£1.5m).
