Enzafruit New Zealand Continent has welcomed the first shipment of New Zealand-grown Jazz apples of the season to European shores, following on from what the group called a 'successful 2015/16 European Jazz season'.
The Seatrade charter Messina Strait arrived at BNFW in the port of Antwerp today (29 April), bringing the first New Zealand Jazz as well as volumes of Royal Gala apples.
A few containers with Cox, Royal Gala and Doyenne du Comice pears were shipped earlier in the month.
A second vessel charter with a larger capacity, and the first load of Braeburn, will be expected in Antwerp at the end of May.
Enzafruit New Zealand is the only New Zealand company using conventional vessel charters to export its apples.
'The quality of Jazz is again outstanding,' the group noted. 'With its bright red colour, crunchy and sweet flavour, this top-brand guarantees every season a unique flavour experience.'
Enzafruit explained that a lot of marketing activities, such as tastings and samplings, are already planned for this season, giving consumers the opportunity to enjoy the fruit.
There will also be several entertaining actions on Facebook with lots of information on the Jazz apple. The main goal on Facebook will be “Play and win!'
