Italian organic kiwifruit is awarded the prestigious quality seal in Spain and Portugal
Dulcis Bio organic green kiwifruit has scooped the Sabor del Año (Taste of the Year) 2025 award. The quality award was created by the French company Monadia 30 years ago and is awarded to products that undergo rigorous blind taste testing by a consumer panel in an accredited laboratory.
Evaluations are based on five key criteria: taste, appearance, aroma, texture and overall satisfaction. To obtain the stamp of excellence, a product must not only exceed a minimum score but also outperform competitors in its category.
Mirco Montefiori, president of the Dulcis Kiwifruit Company, said: “Receiving an award directly from consumers is a tremendous honour for us. We have dedicated a great deal of time to studying our target audience, analysing their needs and preferences, and the Taste of the Year award confirms that our efforts are heading in the right direction.
“We have carefully curated every aspect, from the distinctive packaging design to the information provided, but most importantly, we have focused on the product’s organoleptic quality. Dulcis was created with the goal of offering a superior alternative to traditional kiwis, combining the sweetness typical of yellow-fleshed varieties with the freshness of green kiwifruit.”
In the 2024/25 season, Dulcis production hit approximately 600 tonnes, with distribution primarily aimed at the Italian market. Limited exports were also carried out across Europe, with particular focus on the German, Benelux, Spanish and Portuguese markets.
