Del Monte Fresh Produce has unveiled a new marketing campaign, which aims to encourage the North American public to do more exercise and eat more healthily via a social media competition.
The contest, the “500 Sneaker March” will be hosted on the company’s Facebook page and runs from 1 March through 31 March.
During the month, Del Monte will randomly award 500 sneakers (trainers) to 500 Del Monte Facebook fans who enter the contest.
All entrants, however, will be encouraged to sign a pledge to exercise at least three times a week for 30 minutes and as recommended by the USDA, make half of their plate fruits and vegetables.
“We’re excited to launch this promotion and offer consumers the possibility to win a brand new pair of sneakers,” said Dennis Christou, Del Monte’s vice-president of marketing.
“Del Monte Fresh Produce not only provides fresh fruits and vegetables which are key components in leading a healthy lifestyle, but now through this promotion, encourages consumers to exercise as well.”
Each week, during the entire month of March, 125 randomly selected eligible US and Canadian consumers who enter the contest, will also each be awarded a US$75 gift card to to purchase a pair of sneakers at Foot Locker.
