Clemcott

CVVP's Clemcott variety

CVVP, the protected vegetables varieties club, presented a trio of new citrus varieties at Fruit Logistica this month. In addition to Clemcott, its premium Nadorcott selection, the club showcased new offerings in the orange, mandarin and lemon categories.

M7 is an extra-early Navelina mutation characterised by its round shape and extensive harvesting period of four months, while Leanri is a Clementine-Murcott mutation with orange-red flesh and a rounded shape and Summer Prim is a late season lemon with a fine skin.

CVVP said Clemcott, its late-season mandarin whose season runs from January to the end of April, had once again generated plenty of interest from buyers at the fair.

“The most demanding purchasing managers are those who value excellence and quality in fresh products, especially in fruit and vegetables. Clemcott is the mandarin of these managers, who are called the MasterChiefs,” CVVP said.

“Clemcott has all the features needed to make it a first class fruit: a deep reddish colour, easy peeling, homogeneity, intense aroma and exquisite flavour.”
