Chiquita Brands International has taken a very public step to driving home the healthy eating message by offering bananas, fresh-cut apples and other snacks to visitors at Disney's Magic Kingdom in Florida, while also offering a free day at the resort.
Chiquita, which has an exclusive contract with Disney for bananas, apple slices and salads, took place in an 18 March ribbon cutting event to celebrate its partnership with theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort, The Packer reported.
During the event, Chiquita CEO Fernando Aguirre joined 20 children from a local boys and girls club to ride one of the attractions at the park.
'At Chiquita, our mission is to help improve world nutrition,' Aguirre said in a statement. 'I cannot think of a better way to do that, than helping educate consumers of all ages about the benefits of proper nutrition and making our products even more accessible to children at their favourite destination, the Walt Disney World Resort.'
