Chiquita Brands International is to expand its fresh-cut fruit range as part of the international produce marketer’s ongoing commitment to providing US consumers with healthy, convenient, quality snacks at a great value.
“On 14 April, we will launch Apple Bites with Cinnamon Creme dip as an addition to our healthy snacking product line,” Chiquita’s communications specialist Cynthia Godby told Fruitnet.com. “Existing products in the range comprise Apples, Apples and Grapes, Apples with Caramel and Carrots with Ranch.”
“We are also launching two new flavors within the Pineapple Bites offer on 14 April, which are plain Pineapple and Pineapple with Coconut,” added Ms Godby.
In addition, Chiquita plans to transition its Multipacks (currently in bags) into a new FridgeFit rigid package to allow consumers to better see the product and assess freshness.
“The new packing is recyclable, durable and compact,” explained Ms Godby. “Another benefitis that while at home the consumer will have a small tray that serves as an easily accessible snacking unit in the produce bin.”
Final product additions include Chiquita Frozen Fruit Smoothie concentrates, which will be sold in the frozen aisles at select US retail grocery from April onwards, and available in four flavors: strawberry banana, banana colada, peach mango and mixed berry.
“The all natural Chiquita Frozen Fruit Smoothie concentrates contain no artificial coloring or preservatives and are gluten and dairy free,” said Ms Godby. “Each smoothie serving contains at least half a cup of fruit and 100 per cent of the recommended dietary allowance of Vitamin C.”
The smoothies are supplied through a brand licensing partnership with Old Orchard Brands – one of the fastest-growing fruit juice brands in the US.
