French retailer Carrefour has opened its first store dedicated exclusively to organics, according to Boursier.com.
The outlet, named Carrefour Bio, is located in Paris's twelfth arondissement, measuring 170m2 and offering a range of private label and own-brand organic products, including fruit and vegetables.
In keeping with the sustainable theme of the shop, Carrefour Bio has been fitted with closed-door fridges and LED lighting to reduce the store's energy consumption and environmental impact, the company revealed.
The shop also offers customers loose produce to reduce the use of packaging, as well as recyclable and reusable bags.
Concerning fruit and vegetables, Carrefour Bio will be giving priority to nearby production areas, the company said.
