Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, has added two highly coveted accolades to its list of industry awards in the last few weeks.
The airline was awarded the ‘International Cargo Airline of the Year’ by STAT Trade media group at the recently concluded Air Cargo India 2014 awards evening, which was held at the Westin Hotel in Mumbai.
Emirates SkyCargo was also voted the ‘Top Cargo Handling Airline of Cochin 2013’ by the Customs Department at the International Customs Day Celebration held in Kochi.
Nabil Sultan, Emirates divisional senior vice-president for cargo, along with Pradeep Kumar, emirates senior vice-president cargo revenue optimisation and systems, received the ‘International Cargo Airline of the Year’ award from Des Vertannes, global head of cargo at IATA.
“Both the awards are a testimony of the unflagging efforts by the team to make Emirates SkyCargo a successful cargo airline in the India market,' said Nabil Sultan. 'Both STAT Trade awards and The International Customs Day Celebrations are widely recognised not only in India but across the globe.
'These accolades are considered to be a benchmark for reviewing performances in the cargo Industry,' he added. 'We are delighted to win this year and I would like to congratulate the entire India team for the constant effort they have put in to make this possible.”
Overall, Emirates SkyCargo carried over 2m tonnes of cargo inclusive of imports and exports in the calendar year 2013.
