Candine, described by France’s Blue Whale as the “perfect variety” for the Asian market, has won the fresh apple prize at Voted Product of the Year Singapore-Malaysia
This week, Candine, the apple brand sold by French cooperative Blue Whale, scooped an award for fresh apples at Voted Product of the Year Singapore-Malaysia, the second edition of the show in Singapore, where Candine has made impressive progress in recent years.
“We celebrated Singapore’s most innovative products, chosen by consumers through research carried out by Treetz under the supervision of Deloitte. The product testing is implemented in the research by Try and Review,” the organisers stated on LinkedIn.
“A massive congratulations to our 2025 winners, who have set new standards in their categories. Winning is just the beginning. With the POY seal, these brands will gain more consumer trust, visibility and sales.”
Julien Baumann, regional commercial manager Asia at Blue Whale, was on hand to collect the prize, which marks Candine’s great strides in Asia.
“What an achievement and recognition of the hard work of our growers, packers, sales team, customers and partners!” said Blue Whale’s Mehdi Benaissia.
Benaissia has described Candine as the “perfect variety for the Asian market, with a good colour, a very nice sweet taste and a good shelf life”.
“We are developing it all over Asia,” he said, “in China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore and Thailand.”
Voted Product of the Year is present in nearly 40 countries around the world, reaching several hundred million consumers.
