A new campaign has been launched by environmental group Terres de Liens to tackle the existential threat to France's farmlands.
The campaign, which uses the banner 'Let's not abandon our common heritage', has two main aims, according to the group: to help people to understand the current reality and to enable French citizens to get involved in the expansion of farms throughout the country.
Although organic farmland continues to be developed, it says, conventional farmland is disappearing all over the country.
The campaign has therefore called for support and donations so that it can encourage retiring farmers to pass their farms to Terres de Liens, thus ensuring that the land is only used for agriculture in the future.
