Leading salads marketer Bonduelle has teamed up with German trade weekly Fruchthandel and its sister publication Fresh Convenience to launch the Freshcut Salad Award 2011, a new prize aimed at encouraging quality within the prepared salads sector and generating greater interest in the category in wholesale and retail markets.
Applications for the award, which are open to any independent fresh produce trader, will be accepted up to 21 April 2011.
'With the Freshcut Salad Award we want to pay more attention to the fresh-cut salads segment,' commented Andreas Kuhle, marketing director of Bonduelle Germany.
'We want to encourage markets to become even more involved in this area and with the placement of such products at point of sale.'
He added: 'The issues of availability and freshness are two areas which we want to look at in particular. Thus, in partnership with our trade partners, we want to offer consumers the maximum freshness and quality.'
