Several leading biological pest control companies were recognised for their work in developing the sector in the southern Spanish province of Almería.
At last week’s Fruit Logistica 2010 in Berlin, Germany, Koppert Biological Systems and Agrobio were presented with awards at the sixth edition of the Almería Awards, which are organised by the province’s chamber of commerce at the event every year.
Organisers said the Almería Awards were given to exhibitor companies in recognition of their support of the horticulture sector of Almeria “for having positioned its goods in the market as high value products”.
Dutch pest control specialist Koppert Biological Systems was presented was an award in recognition of the work that it had carried out in producing and supplying natural pest management and pollinations products for Almerían growers.
Agrobio was also recognised for being “an outstanding company in the production of insects helpful for agriculture, a pioneer in the production of bumblebees and for being exceptional in its continuous progress to improve the integrated control of pests by means of natural methods”.
