The Belgian cooperative’s launch of homegrown Aromia cherry tomatoes is part of its strategy to expand its premium segment and respond to growing demand for superior taste and localness
Following the success of the Ruby Red vine tomato, Belgian cooperative BelOrta said it was continuing its quest for “top quality and a sublime taste experience” in the tomato category with the introduction of Aromia, a premium cherry vine tomato marketed exclusively through the cooperative.
Aromia is the culmination of years of research into a cherry vine tomato with “just that little bit extra”, according to BelOrta.
“This new variety excels in taste, has a firm bite and a beautiful red colour that immediately catches the eye,” the cooperative stated. “Not only on paper: taste panels also place the Aromia far ahead at the top in Europe.”
BelOrta said Aromia would further expand the cooperative’s premium segment, while meeting the growing demand from retailers and consumers for “tasty, high-quality tomatoes with a local story”.
“The tomato is harvested fresh daily by two young Belgian growers who grow this new cherry vine tomato with great passion and craftsmanship,” BelOrta revealed. “The two young growers chose this variety themselves, convinced of its taste and quality.”
