Florida-based producer-importer Ayco Farms has established a comprehensive greenhouse produce import programme as part of the company’s growth strategy.
The new deal includes the purchase of production areas in Mexico as well as new import agreements with organic suppliers in Europe and Israel.
Ayco has acquired procurement and greenhouse production in the four leading Mexican growing regions which will see Ayco handle over 3m cartons this winter.
“These new products are part of our new vision,” said Avi Nir, CEO of Ayco, in a company press release.
“We have chosen arenas in which we can maximize our grower knowledge and farming controls from the ground up.We only get involved if we are in control of the production.”
In addition to the Mexico production, Ayco said it will offer an organic greenhouse line put together with corporate contacts in Europe and Israel.
“The greenhouse production offers additional flexibility and options for our customers,” explained Nir, adding that shipments will begin in the next four to six months.
Ayco said it is committed to the integrity of its greenhouse product and has a team of people dedicated to ensure the product shipped meets all specifications.
“The future is about sustainability, food safety and high quality,” pointed out Nir.
“Having a more controlled environment allows us to have more consistent production flows, something very important to our customers.”
Ayco’s greenhouse programme is market driven, according to Nir.
“We are fortunate to work with some of the finest retailers and food service companies in the country,” he said. “We are focusing our efforts on their needs.”
To support its expansion in production, Ayco recently opened an office in McAllen, Texas, in addition to its sales office in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
“All of our efforts from Pompano Beach to McAllen to Mexico to Israel allow us to find areas in which we can meet the expectations of our customer base,” noted Nir.
