As part of its sustainability initiative, French retailer Auchan's store in Perpignan, in the south of the country, organised a 'Green Day' afternoon in partnership with a class from the Ludovic-Massé Porte d'Espagne school.
Each pupil planted a tree in the area surrounding the store in order to demonstrate the retailer's commitment to environmental protection.
The compost used to plant these trees was itself from recycled flowers, fruit and vegetables and plants, according to the company, in order to show the importance of avoiding waste.
