Canary Islands banana promotion

Canary Islands banana association Asprocan has launched a new promotional campaign focusing on the fruit as a natural, healthy alternative to processed snackfoods that can be eaten at virtually any time of the day and in any location.

The campaign, which was unveiled at the headquarters of Spanish Nutritional Federation (FEN) this week in Madrid, will target the Spanish domestic market and will see some 26,500 bananas being distributed free on the streets of the country’s capital.

Aprocan, in conjunction with Spanish marketing agency Agr!, will also support the campaign through television, radio and print, the former of which will feature the song ‘The Bare Necessities’ from Disney’s The Jungle Book.

At the presentation, Asprocan president Francisco Rodríguez said the promotion would focus on bananas as “the most natural option, which is easy to carry and eat, and is at the same time economical because the price per unit is far lower than that of other snacks”.
