Asda has been named the UK's multiple fresh produce retailer of the year at the 2012 Retail Industry Awards.
Lastnight's event also saw Budgens winning the prize for best 'company-owned' fresh produce retailer, with Crawfords of Maghera, County Londonderry taking the nod for best independent.
The fresh produce category was sponsored by Dole Fresh UK, part of Compagnie Fruitiere, with the company's Toni Direito presenting the awards.
'Boththe judging panel and myself were thrilled with the high standard of all the entrants for this prestigious award, reflecting the strong contributions that they make to the fresh produce industry,' Direito said. 'We extend our warmest congratulations to Asda, Budgens and Crawfords as well as all those shortlisted.'
