Antwerp Port Authority has been named as the Port Operator of the Year at the annual Lloyd's List Awards this week, holding off the challenge of APM Terminals, Krishnapatam Port Company and PD Ports.

According to the Port Authority, the jury appreciated the efforts made to maintain high standards of operation and customer service during one of the 'most difficult years'.

'We look upon this award as undeniable confirmation of the dynamism of our port, in good times as in bad,' said chief commercial officer Luc Arnouts on accepting the award at a ceremony in London. 'The typical Antwerp spirit of forging ahead and doing business has once more demonstrated its vitality during the recent economic crisis.

'I dedicate this award to all the Antwerp companies that together make up our port and give the best possible service to customers, day after day,' he added.
