More than 6,000 people from across Spain have participated in an online initiative by leading Spanish fresh produce marketing organisation Anecoop to encourage greater consumption of fruits and vegetables among children.
The project, Cultivamos Futuro (‘Cultivating the Future’), was launched by the cooperative group last October and since then hundreds of people from across Spanish society, from nutritional experts and producers to teachers and housewives have taken part.
As part of the initiative, Anecoop launched a competition, called ‘Dando Ejemplo’ (‘Giving Example’), which featured 10 families competing to win a free supply of fruits and vegetables for a year from the company.
During the contest, which was also featured in social networking sites Facebook and Twitter, each of the participating families had to overcome a series of challenges to achieve the introduction of more fruits and vegetables into their daily diet.
The winning family will be announced on 31 July 2011.
