Company becomes one of only 200 in Spain to receive the sustainability certification

Agroponiente Bcorp

Agroponiente Group held a special event this week to celebrate its B-Corp accreditation, which it received at the end of last year. It becomes one of only 200 companies in Spain and 9,400 companies worldwide to receive the sustainability certification.

The president of the Provincial Council of Almería, Javier Aureliano García Molina, praised the company’s “exceptional work”, which he said makes it among the best in Spain. “It employs thousands of people, leverages the work of thousands of farmers, and also has an impressive environmental policy, which has led to a complete reduction in its consumption figures and carbon footprint,” García said.

CEO Imanol Almudí noted that the achievement was the result of a transformative process within the company, which began several years ago and has represented a radical change in both the way it operates and its organisational culture.

“When I arrived at Agroponiente three years ago, I saw a company with tremendous potential, but facing challenges. Today, not only have we managed to turn the company around, but we have also reached an important milestone by achieving B-Corp certification, which highlights our social responsibility, sustainability, and corporate transparency,” Almudí said.
