At next week’s organic fair BioFach, which takes place in Nuremberg, Germany, there will once again be a strong presence from the African continent.
Visitors to the African Pavilion will be able to enjoy African designs, colours, sounds and flavours, as around 100 exporters, national organic movements and export promotion agencies combine to showcase the specialities from sub-Saharan Africa.
For the participants, BioFach represents a great chance to display their products and to link up with interested buyers and colleagues; for buyers it is an opportunity to make contacts with professional suppliers from Africa.
This is the third year that African organisations will exhibit under one large pavilion. Coordinator Kari örjavik commented: “African producers are ready for the international market and together with all involved we want to show the organic world what Africa can deliver.”
Products such as pineapples and honey will be served for the visitors, while Gerda Verburg, the Netherlands’ minister of agriculture, will take part in an award ceremony for KAITE, a Zimbabwean export company selected as SEED Gold Winner 2009.
According to BioFach's organisers, there will be 16 African countries represented: Benin, Cameroon, Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
