Univeg, one of the world's largest suppliers of fresh fruit and vegetables, will exhibit for the first time at this year's Asia Fruit Logistica, the international trade show due to take place in Hong Kong on 5-7 September.
Underlining plans to grow its sales and sourcing in Asia, the Belgium-based company said it saw opportunities to sell more of its Southern Hemisphere production in Asian markets, as well as to procure a larger volume of fresh produce from the region for sale elsewhere in the world.
Francis Kint, chief executive of Univeg's fresh produce business, commented: 'We have recognised the growing business opportunities in Asia, where most of our Southern Hemisphere units are increasing their sales every year.'
Having visited Asia Fruit Logistica in previous years, Univeg was very much looking forward to its first appearances as an exhibitor at the show, Kint said.
'We now have the desire to multiply our business contacts. We want to let Asian companies know the full potential of Univeg as a source of a broad range of product categories and origins, and learn more about sourcing possibilities in Asia.'
