Organic grower Henares Organic Farm in the Philippines’ Negros Occidental province aims to begin shipping fruit to the Japanese market soon.
As part of a deal with an unnamed Japanese investor, the company’s Batchoy Henares said Henares Organic Farm would begin exporting organic bananas and pineapples to Japan.
Speaking to the Sun Star Bacolod newspaper, Mr Henares said the initial order was for two 40ft containers of the fruit each week.
“We are confident that we can deliver their demands with the cooperation of our local farmers here,” he said.
Henares Organic Farm, located in Barangay Alangilan in Bacolod City, currently has 20ha under production of a range of organic product, largely vegetables. The export proposal will mean a new 150ha banana and pineapple plantation.
