The mango could be the next fruit to have its own emoji.
The popular tropical fruit has made a draft list of 67 new emoji characters being put forward by the Emoji Subcommittee.
The final list of new emojis will be decided at the Unicode Technical Committee in the last quarter of 2017, with the approved emojis set to be released in June 2018. The committee places limitations on the number of emojis encoded each year.
The bid for a mango emoji has come on the back of a push from Australia’s Hort Innovation and the Australian Mango Industry Association. The pair launched the #mangoemojiplease campaign last year, which has since gained significant traction through various social media channels.
