Some Japanese organic farmers have printed friendly slogans on apples targeted at buyers in Taiwan.
According to the China Post, some Japanese growers used edible white ink to print the message ‘friendly relations between Taiwan and Japan’ on their apples.
The moves comes in light of concerns amongst Taiwanese consumers over radioactive contamination of Japanese produce following the damage to the Fukushima nuclear power plant in March of this year.
Exports of Japanese apples to Taiwan have decreased since the disaster and were banned for a period after the Taiwanese government classified the Aomori prefecture’s agricultural products as radioactive, the newspaper reported.
