Around 40 high-end hotels in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) will provide guests with free locally grown fruit over the coming week, VietNamNet has reported.
The promotion is being run by the HCMC Department of Tourism, with funding coming from the participating hotels, as part of Vietnam Fruit Week, beginning 1 June. The fresh Vietnamese-grown fruit will be delivered to more than 8,500 rooms in four and five star hotels in the city.
The Fruit Week festival is part of the Southern Fruit Festival 2017, which is taking place over the next three months at Suoi Tien Park. The festival features a fruit fair, a fruit floating market and a fruit inspired drinks making contest.
According to VietNamNet, the Southern Fruit Festival is expected to attract 1.1m visitors, who will be exposed to a wide variety of Vietnam’s fresh produce, the majority of which comes from the country’s southern provinces.
The festival will gain added exposure through local travel companies, who have included it on their itinerary for HCMC-based tours. Local restaurants will also be promoting Vietnamese fruits on their menus.
