Delegates visited Long Bien wholesale market, Winmart and Aeon to further understand Vietnam’s dynamic fruit market
Frutas de Chile president, Iván Marambio, and representatives from the Chilean embassy and government authorities in Chile, visited Vietnam’s capital city Hanoi this July to explore the country’s dynamic fruit market. The significant visit was coordinated by JWM Asia in partnership with An Minh, a leading local Vietnamese importer.
The visit began with a tour of the Long Bien wholesale market, a pivotal hub for fruit trade in Vietnam, where delegates developed a comprehensive understanding of the local fruit market dynamics, according to a JWM release. These learnings included insights into demand patterns, supply chains, and distribution networks essential to the market.
In the context of evolving business practices and the rise of online transactions, Long Bien Market now primarily serves as a distribution center for secondary and tertiary resellers, reflecting the changing landscape of wholesale trade.
The delegation also visited Winmart, Vietnam’s largest retailer as well as leading retail chain Aeon. Visiting these two retailers highlighted the Vietnam retail industry’s approach to fruit retailing, including their display strategies, consumer preferences, and the integration of imported fruits into their product offerings.
JWM said the joint promotion efforts between Frutas de Chile, JWM Asia, An Minh and Winmart underscores the critical role of robust international partnerships and coordination in the global fruit trade. The visit not only reinforced existing relationships but also opened new avenues for collaboration, aimed at introducing high-quality Chilean fruits to Vietnamese consumers.
As Frutas de Chile continues to explore and expand its global footprint, such initiatives are crucial for understanding and penetrating new markets, ensuring the sustained growth and success of Chilean fruit exports worldwide.
