Fresh Produce Vietnam brings together leading players in the local and international trade

Fresh Produce Vietnam, the brand-new conference and expo event for Vietnam’s fast-growing fresh fruit and vegetable business, launches in 2025.

Organised by Fruitnet with official partner Asia Fruit Logistica, Fresh Produce Vietnam takes place at the deluxe Sheraton Hotel in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City on 13-14 May 2025.

The event features a full-day content programme on Tuesday 13 May packed with expert talks, presentations and interviews. Running alongside it is a bustling B2B expo, enabling delegates to enjoy non-stop networking throughout the day.

Study tours follow on 14 May, taking in best-in-class examples of food retailing and fresh produce distribution in Ho Chi Minh City.

“Vietnam is Asia’s hottest market right now for fresh fruit and vegetables,” said John Hey, managing director of Fruitnet Asia. “Fresh Produce Vietnam will bring together big international buyers and suppliers with Vietnam’s top businesses to explore the abundant opportunities.”

With a young, educated and increasingly affluent population, Vietnam has gained a reputation as one of the most exciting emerging markets for the global fruit and vegetable business.

Import expansion

Vietnam is already a major importer of apples, citrus and grapes. Its fresh fruit imports rose by 14.6 per cent year-on-year in 2023 to reach some 1.4m tonnes. Mandarin imports soared by 42 per cent, mostly sourced from China. Vietnam is also showing exciting signs of growth for higher-value categories such as cherries, stonefruit, and berries.

Retail boom

The expansion of modern supermarket retailing in Vietnam is a key driver of growth for imported fruit brands. Leading domestic retail chains such as WinMart, Coopmart and Bach Hao Xanh dominate the market and are pouring sizeable investments into upgrading stores and expanding their networks. International brands like Central Retail, Aeon, Lotte, Emart and Mega Market are also opening many new stores.

Durian drives export surge

Vietnam is also a powerhouse producer and exporter of tropical fruits – it’s now a key supplier to China and the rest of Asia for big lines like dragon fruit, bananas and durian. Vietnam’s total fresh fruit exports increased by 24 per cent to 1.56m tonnes in 2023. The growth was driven by a six-fold increase in durian exports to 507,000 tonnes following the opening of the China market to Vietnamese durians.
