A slightly later start hasn’t diminished Freshmax’s optimism heading into the 2018/19 New Zealand cherry season.
The leading Australasian company will get its new-season campaign underway this week with shipments of its proprietary Lani variety.
While colder spring temperatures have delayed harvest by comparison with previous years, Freshmax NZ’s export division manager, Tracey Burns, says there has been no adverse impact on fruit quality, with the company extremely proud of the standard of their fruit.
“The first fruit is expected to be with export customers mid this week,” Burns said. “They are thrilled to be receiving the new season Lani and excitement is mounting for the upcoming season.
“Our customers are anticipating strong sales to start their NZ campaign and are delighted to begin their New Zealand season with Lani before moving into our mainstream varieties that will run right through to Chinese New Year.”
The Lani export programme will be supported by an in-depth marketing campaign made up of point of sale and social media activations. Lani will be available to customers in China, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Taiwan.
