Citrus Australia (CA) has revealed that it will be organising in-store demonstrations with growers at a number of Coles stores across Melbourne as part of a drive to promote the country's 2009 citrus crop.
As part of the campaign, consumers will be invited to take part in tasting sessions and will be provided with information about different varieties.
The link-up is a result of a recent meeting between Citrus Australia representatives and the Coles fresh produce team, during which the two parties discusses the country's citrus season.
Judith Damiani, chief executive officer at Citrus Australia, said that volumes had returned to normal this year with good quality fruit, despite the challenges presented by the ongoing drought in southern Australia.
And Coles Group merchandise manager for fruit Winstone Chee agreed that the category looked good: 'You won't get a better time than now to eat good quality, fresh citrus,' he said.
