Recruitment and training company SkillsOne has announced it is making a new television series aiming at attracting tourists to fruit picking jobs in Australia.
SkillsOne is reportedly working to produce the show, the ‘Harvest Trail Initiative’, with the Australian Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR), the National Farmers Federation, AgriFood Skills Australia, Tourism Australia, and media partners News Ltd, Rotary, Foxtel, Austar and Sky News.
The Harvest Trail Initiative will aim to help farmers fill the 20,000 fruit picking jobs by educating viewers on the skills and opportunities available to tourists who work as fruit pickers in Australia, reported hospitality and tourism site Thumbrella.
The show will feature testimonials from farmers and pickers, and will be broadcast by SkillsOne’s media partners.
