One of Australia’s most recognised packaged fruit brands, SPC, has just signed a partnership deal with China State Farm Agribusiness Shanghai (CSFA Shanghai) to distribute its packaged fruit to China’s “burgeoning middle class.”
“China represents a significant business opportunity for SPC in the years ahead, and this is an important step in realising our growth strategy,” said SPC’s managing director, Reg Weine.
CSFA Shanghai, which is a part of the CSFA Group Corporation, will be the master distributor for SPC’s range in China. SPC will be distributing its own label, as well as the Goulburn Valley brand which falls under its umbrella.
To encourage Chinese consumption, SPC has appointed Ye Yiqian, a well-known Chinese actress and singer as its brand ambassador.
“Her passion for cooking, love of food, and deep connection with aspirational Chinese consumers is something we believe will be advantageous for our launch and will help contextualise our products for this new audience,” said Weine.
SPC has been exporting to international markets including the US, UK, Europe, Southeast Asia, Japan and the Middle East for the past 90 years. This will be the first time the brand has entered the Chinese market.
