Leading US apple grower-exporter Stemilt Growers has moved to strengthen its position in India’s lucrative apple market through the launch of the Apples for Health campaign.
The Washington State-based firm has teamed up with its Indian import partner IG International to develop the promotion, aimed at highlighting the nutritional value of the fruit and making consumers aware of the different apple varieties available. “With just 90 calories per apple, it is one of the best fruits to help people maintain a healthy weight and healthier lifestyle,” said Tarun Arora, director of IG International.
The two companies intend to further strengthen their relationship by working together in areas such as temperature-controlled warehousing, packaging and transportation of fresh fruit. The partnership is likely extend to other fresh fruit lines in the near future. William Young, sales director at Stemilt Growers, said the companies share the vision of growing India’s fresh produce import market.
“The Indian fresh fruit market is one of the world’s fastest-growing markets, and Stemilt Growers supplies the largest volume of fresh produce to India through IG International,” said Young.
