Skinner joined the board in 2002 and spent 25 years representing the Western Australia Chamber of Fruit & Vegetables
Fresh Markets Australia (FMA) has announced long-serving director Trish Skinner has relinquished her position as an FMA board member.
Skinner joined the FMA board in 2002 representing the Chamber of Fruit & Vegetables in Western Australia, Market West.
“Since then, she has worked with enthusiasm, loyalty and commitment to support the objectives and initiatives of FMA and the broader fresh produce industry,” said FMA in a release.
Skinner joined the WA Chamber almost 25 years ago and became Vice President in 2006 and was elected President in 2011.
She played a pivotal role in the acquisition of the Perth Markets through the formation of an industry consortium, leading a sub-committee in formulating an attractive, competitive bid which was ultimately successful as the preferred bidder to purchase the Perth Markets from the state government in 2016.
“Trish’s leadership and support were invaluable in realising the goal of industry-based ownership of the Markets on behalf of the wholesaling sector and the fresh produce industry in Western Australia,” said FMA in a release.
“Trish has been proactive in representing the interests of the industry on various matters affecting the wider horticulture environment. This included her ongoing efforts to campaign on behalf of both Western Australia and national wholesalers, seeking a fair and equitable outcome in the formulation of the Horticulture Code of Conduct, as we know it today.”
Skinner was awarded the prestigious FMA Meritorious Service Award in 2017 for her contribution to the industry.
FMA’s chair Shane Schnitzler offered his congratulations and gratitude to Skinner and acknowledged her long and significant contribution to FMA the sector and the ongoing success of the central markets nationally.
