Citrus Australia has elected its office bearers to a new term with Richard Byllaardt appointed as chair and Ryan Arnold appointed as deputy chair of the in

The industry body’s board confirmed the appointment following a meeting held on the sidelines of the Australian Citrus Congress in Griffith, New South Wales.

Byllaardt said the appointment of Arnold – a grower director based in the Riverland region in South Australia – was an important step in the board’s succession planning for the chair role in the future.

“Ryan brings great insight, energy and fresh prospectives to the board – and Citrus Australia as a whole,” said Byllaardt.

“This appointment is part of our commitment to long-term, strategic leadership for the Australian citrus industry.”

Byllaardt also acknowledged the value of strong succession planning and the contribution of Greg Fraser, outgoing deputy chair.

“The board’s focus on succession planning ensures we are well-placed to respond to industry needs now and into the future,” he said.

“I’d also like to thank Greg Fraser for his dedication and leadership during his time as deputy chair — his support has been greatly valued, and we look forward to him remaining on as an independent director.”

Citrus Australia chief executive Nathan Hancock welcomed the appointments.

“I’m pleased to see continuity in the chair role and congratulate Ryan on his new position,” Hancock said.
