Bayer CropScience and the Queensland Strawberry Association launched the state’s strawberry season with the Annual Strawberry Conference Dinner, now in its third year.
More than 245 growers, suppliers and agents attended the industry awards night and networking dinner on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast on 2 May. Agronomist Ben Carville from Suncoast Rural took out this year’s Strawberry Industry Services Award for his advice to growers and work in crop protection.
The Queensland strawberry industry is worth an estimated A$130m to the state’s economy, according to Queensland’s agricultural department, producing more than 60m punnets of the sweet fruit every year.
