S2 warehouse is a purpose-built standalone facility spanning over 3,500m2
Perth Markets Group (PMGL) has announced the completion of its new multi-tenant cold chain warehouse known as S2. Finished at the end of December 2024, the facility is strategically located at PMGL’s premier 51ha Canning Vale site and reflects PMGL’s ongoing commitment to developing facilities that support Western Australia’s fresh produce industry.
The S2 warehouse is a purpose-built standalone facility spanning over 3,500m². It features two-storey internal offices, 9.1m high cool rooms with motion sensor high-performance rapid doors, and recessed rear loading docks with dock levellers, restraints, and shelters. With full drive-around road circulation, the S2 warehouse is designed to foster seamless logistics and efficient distribution into the retail and fresh produce supply chain.
PMGL chief executive officer, Scott Gibson, expressed the importance of the new build.
“As Western Australia’s only fresh food wholesale market, it is integral we continuously grow and deliver infrastructure that supports, strengthens, and meets the demands of the fresh produce supply chain,” said Gibson.
PMGL chief property officer, Shaun Atkins, who developed and leased the warehouse, emphasised the strategic significance of the facility.
“These warehouses are incredibly important to the growth and success of our tenants – it gives them the opportunity to consolidate their site operations, deliver efficiencies and underpin continued expansion in the future,” Atkins explained.
The completion of S2 project is part of PMGL’s ongoing investment in infrastructure to support Western Australia’s growers, wholesalers and fresh food retailers, with further opportunities becoming available following a strategic review of the precinct’s master plan.
The Perth Markets purpose-built site is home to Western Australia’s only wholesale fresh food central trading market. More than 250,000 tonnes of produce was traded through the market in the 2024 financial year. The site provides the critical link between growers, wholesalers, retailers and the fresh food supply chain and contributes significantly to the horticultural industry and Western Australia’s economy.
