Taking over from Mark Spees, Sam Turner will head Hort Innovation’s apple and pear categories working on research and development, and marketing levies for the category.
APAL stated on their website that Spees will move on to manage citrus, table grapes, cherries and summerfruit.
Turner’s role will be the first port of call for growers who want to know more about how levies are invested, have suggestions for a research idea, or find out more about a specific project.
“Taking on the apple and pear portfolio is an exciting venture for me and I look forward to working with growers, learning more about the industry, and gaining a solid understanding of top-end, high value production,” said Turner.
He joined Hort Innovation in 2017 and is also managing a portfolio of vegetables, onions, and tomato processing.
Prior to joining the company, Turner completed an agriculture science degree at La Trobe University in Melbourne and is currently completing a masters of agribusiness at Marcus Oldham.
