The Australian branch of the German retailer is trialling multi-tiered fruit and vegetable displays, drop lighting and pastel signage at Aldi stores in Queensland’s Kallangur, Canberra’s Chisholm, New South Wales town McGraths Hill and Highton in Victoria.
“New layouts will improve store navigation and access to fresh produce bay areas, while also focusing on how products are displayed and check-out wait times,” an Aldi Australia spokesperson told Retail World. 'We will continue to deliver exceptional value every day, offering the lowest possible price on our range of high-quality products.”
As part of the ‘new-look’ stores, Aldi said it would stick to its sustainability principles, with LED lights to be installed to reduce energy consumption and emissions, as well as applying its principles to the transportation and warehousing of products.
'Aldi Australia is committed to providing the best possible in-store shopping experience for our customers. As we strive for continual improvement, we will continue to listen to feedback from our loyal shoppers and strive to make it even more enjoyable for customers to shop at Aldi.'
Aldi operates 367 supermarkets across Australia and announced earlier in the year that it was looking to increase its market share in Australia by 15 per cent, stepping up its competition against dominant retailers Coles and Woolworths.
