Speakers unveiled, and inaugural field day announced for three-day event
Preparations are ramping up for Citrus Australia’s 2025 Australian Citrus Congress, which is set to bring together the nation’s citrus growers, industry leaders, and innovators for an action-packed event full of insights, technology, and networking in the heart of the New South Wales Riverina.
This year’s Congress will be held in Griffith and Leeton on 18-20 March and Citrus Australia chief executive Nathan Hancock said the 2025 event would be focused on delivering tangible takeaways for growers.
“This year, we’re putting resource efficiency at the core of everything — from our speaker sessions to live demonstrations,” Hancock said.
“It’s all about farming for the future, tackling today’s challenges while harnessing tomorrow’s technology.”
The Congress programme will feature expert panels on economics, labour efficiency, and crop protection, with insights from key speakers including the Commonwealth Bank’s Carol Kong who will speak on economic trends impacting domestic and export markets.
Hort Innovation’s Jesse Reader will talk to Global tech advancements shaping citrus production while Sharon Chapman from ABC Software and James Paterson from Aerobotics will discuss Practical solutions for improving labour efficiency through technology.
Danny Thornton from Agreva and Meena Thakur from the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development will share insights on navigating new pest and disease control methods in a changing regulatory landscape.
For the first time, the Congress will also feature a dedicated field day, hosted by G2 Netting at Moricom Orchard, Leeton.
Growers will get up close to the latest in crop protection structures, precision irrigation, autonomous machinery, and pest management technologies.
“Attendees will see cutting-edge tech in action — from water-saving systems to autonomous vehicles and spray units,” Hancock said. “It’ll be a farmer’s paradise.”
Congress will also include several opportunities for attendees to build industry connections including a golf competition, networking events and the Citrus Australia Industry Awards Dinner
