Kiwifruit industry regulator Kiwifruit New Zealand has announced the appointment of Kristy McDonald as its new chair to replace outgoing chairman Brian Elwood.
Elwood praised McDonald’s legal and regulatory experience – a Wellington-based barrister who is a director on a number of boards.
“I am pleased to announce that Ms McDonald will take up her responsibilities from [30 September] and the industry will benefit greatly from Ms McDonald’s broad ranging skills and experience,” said Elwood in a press released.
Elwood has stepped down after 11 years in the role at Kiwifruit New Zealand, which was established in 2000, when kiwifruit marketer Zespri was also formed.
The news follows a recent announcement the Geoff Morgan has been appointed chief executive of the board to succeed Richard Procter.
