German grocery chain Kaufland is eyeing land and talent in Australia as it looks to set up its operations in Melbourne.
The subsidiary of Schwarz Group, one of the world’s leading retailers, said it has an “ambitious Australian investment and development programme” and is advertising on its new Australian website for bilingual property developers, architectural planners and administrators in Melbourne.
Kaufland is also seeking information on prospective sellers of sites larger than 10,000m2.
The forthcoming arrival of the German retailer has sparked commentary that fellow Schwarz Group subsidiary Lidl will follow suit, having also registered its trademark in Australia.
