Shepparton-based apple and pear grower-packer Geoffrey Thompson Holdings (Jeftomson) purchased SPC Ardmona’s Mooroopna facility on 10 June.
SPC’s parent company Coca-Cola Amatil sold the site for an undisclosed amount as part of it’s A$100m transformation project that will include upgrading its facility in Shepparton.
The purchased site will be used by Jeftomson on top of its current site, which the company is close to out-growing, Jeftomson director Peter Thompson told Fruitnet
“We will move parts of our assets and operations to the Mooroopna facility, but this may take about five years,” Thompson explained.
Thompson said the company had yet to finalise its plans for the site, but that it would be used to accommodate the company’s expected growth in volume, as well as offer third-party storage facilities.
“When the opportunity to came up to buy something like this, we had to grab it – there’s limited supply of sites like this in the area.”
