Growcom, the peak industry body for Queensland horticulture, has appointed Stephen Barnard as its new chief executive.
Belinda Adams, chairperson of Growcom, said Barnard would be bringing plenty of experience when he begins on 19 October.
“Stephen is a highly regarded and experienced senior executive with over 20 years’ in senior leadership roles in the services and agricultural sectors,” Adams said.
“His primary focus will be to ensure that the needs of our members are met, through optimising the structural and operational needs of the Growcom business.”
Barnardsaid he was looking forward to working with the Growcom team and engaging with as many grower members as possible.
“At this very challenging and pivotal time for us all, I am very excited to be part of Growcom on its journey to be the best grower representative body we can be, working towards the sustainable future of the horticulture industry through effective advocacy on behalf of growers,” Barnard said.
“Effective grower engagement, and the delivery of value and relevant services to members is my highest priority.”
Barnard’s previous roles have included senior consultant of KPMG, senior executive of international environmental services group Transpacific Industries, chief executive of Your Credit Union and chief change officer at Australian Certified Organics.
