Stephen Barnard to depart in May after leading Queensland body through pandemic
Stephen Barnard has resigned as chief executive of Queensland horticulture industry body Growcom.
He departs after leading the organisation through the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to a statement from Growcom, Barnard facilitated the board’s mandate for enhanced service delivery and member value, while building a sustainable operating model at Growcom to support the industry’s 3,000 growers.
“We are very grateful for his thoughtful and dynamic leadership at Growcom and the horticulture sector during that time,” the statement said.
Barnard will depart in May. Growcom’s policy and advocacy manager, Richard Shannon, will assume the role of chief executive in the interim, while the board considers succession options.
